Two weeks before payday and I am this close to giving in to temptation and spending the bank’s money on the new Gorillaz Converse camoflage hi-tops. They are just ding dong! These will have to remain on my increasingly long wish list – along with the other must have items I have managed to find recently.

Beautiful, melodic, modern and oh so pretty. The new album, Ritual Union, by Little Dragon is all of these things and more. I have been waiting with eagerness for this album since the release of the single Ritual Union, which is just a snippet of the excellence that is the album. Little Man is another of my favourites from the album – an optimistic but grimy-electro beat combined with Yukimi Nagano’s soulful voice. Beautiful! Their past albums are all very different but if you listen to them all you can definitely hear the progression in sounds and influences.

A new trend that has been bubbling under the radar is Sixties. A trend that has been seeping into the music industry with bands such as Beady Eye, Last of The Shadow Puppets and The Arctic Monkeys using a chords reminiscent of those heard in The Beatles and many more bands from this iconic era.
A re-valuation of vintage furniture via the platform of Ebay see’s a trend which harkens back to the days of good, simple design classics such as G-Plan side boards, Stag chests of drawers and Eero Aarnio plastic chairs. It seems a re-discovery of this design definitive decade is on the cusp of exploding, with designers such as Prada and Jil Sander jumping on the band wagon, although with a hint towards the style of Jackie O.
Get ready for modern takes on the Swinging Sixties to flow into your homes, iPods and wardrobes well into 2012.

At the moment, I am really into the Northern music scene. From the cool swagger that infiltrated early 90’s Brit Pop to the modern indie scene dominated by the Arctic Monkeys, Beady Eye and Miles Kane. Having recently visited the home of the Casual culture, I really noticed how people ‘up’ North dress in such a cool and care-free way. Being able to wear something so effortlessly and without any of the pretension that I feel that London can occasionally channel, seems so refreshing and almost like there is a new subculture bubbling away from the radar of mass consumerism. How thought provoking.

This video is the ultimate in celebrity fest with a cool Beastie Boys edge! I love it – especially Seth Rogan’s old school hip hop ensemble, complete with VW medallion necklace.
Absolutely loving this video!
Liam Gallagher, the previous front man of Oasis has formed a new band, Beady Eye. Having promoted themselves over the last year, the long-awaited debut album Different Gear Still Speeding is in my opinion brilliant.
A 60’s sound mixed with the cool Mancunian swagger synonymous with Oasis makes for exciting and compelling listening. Bring The Light and The Roller in particular have a retro melody, the former reminding me of Floyd Cramer’s On The Rebound.
I can definitely see Liam’s love for all things Mod demonstrated in this album and his fashion label Pretty Green.
